History: Founded in 1990, SMP Data Communications, formerly Superior Modular Products, was built starting with only 4 people and some good ideas on how to lower cross talk in a connector. Today SMP is wholly-owned subsidiary of PLP®,Preformed Line Products Company and manufactures more than 2000 products. Products ranging from high performing, enhanced Category 5e systems to new high-density Fiber Optic facilitation enclosures to cutting edge Category 6a connectivity offering 10 Gig throughput. These are just a sample of the application solutions and innovative products SMP designs to meet its customers demands. However, throughout the years of developing new products and entering into new markets one thing has remained the same, SMP's dedication to its customers needs. This corporate commitment has provided SMP with both an extensive product offering as well as a strong foundation on which to build. SMP Data Communications' first claim to fame was undoubtedly the first three patents that have become the basis for all future technology requiring reduced cross talk in a connector. Since then SMP has remained at the industry forefront by developing newer and better technologies with aggressive involvement within the standards communities and in our own privately funded research and development.
